Ashburnham Town Hall Closes July 2, Transfer Station Shuts July 4 for Holiday
With the Fourth of July weekend approaching, Ashburnham residents should note two back-to-back municipal closures and a standing summer water-conservation order before heading into the holiday.
TOWN HALL
Town Hall will be closed Thursday, July 2, giving staff a long holiday bridge ahead of Independence Day. The Transfer Station will follow suit, closing Saturday, July 4, in observance of the federal holiday. Residents who normally drop off on either of those days should plan accordingly — Town Hall operates Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on regular weeks.
Also still in effect: the town's seasonal water-conservation restrictions, which run May 1 through September 30, 2026. The town's 2025 Annual Water Quality Report — the Consumer Confidence Report — remains available on the town website for anyone who missed it when it was posted earlier this month.
Separately, the town continues to carry a Notice of Board Vacancies posted June 15. Several boards and committees have open seats that will remain posted until filled; residents interested in serving can find the full list on the town's website.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Stevens Memorial Library has a notable funding milestone to share: the library has been provisionally awarded a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant of $20,000 from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The grant, titled "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up," will fund programs and resources aimed at building food-literacy skills among Ashburnham community members. Library Director Jess Mynes leads the library, which serves a community of more than 6,000 residents and describes itself as a community hub for education, culture, and recreation.
The library has also released its FY26–FY29 Strategic Plan, developed with input from community stakeholders, outlining updated objectives and directions for the next four years.
