Berlin Finance Committee Approves $1,550 in Reserve Fund Transfers for New Staff
BERLIN — June 19, 2026 — Berlin Finance Committee approves $1,550 in reserve fund transfers to cover two new personnel costs. The three-member committee voted 3-0 on each transfer at its June 19 meeting, authorizing $1,200 to fund a part-time executive assistant to the town administrator — a new hire expected to start the following Monday at 19 hours per week — and $350 to cover the temporary town clerk appointed after the elected official declined to take the position. Town staff, identified in the meeting as June, noted the reserve fund held $20,000 before the transfers and flagged two potential additional needs before fiscal year 2026 closes: electricity final bills and repairs following a valve failure that drained a public building's water system back into the well. The committee is scheduled to meet again July 15, one day after the Select Board's July 13 meeting, which would allow for line-item transfers if further action is needed.
