Bolton Select Board ratifies police union contract, lays out Moderator Way for town vote
BOLTON — April 9, 2026 — Bolton Select Board ratifies three-year police union contract and advances Moderator Way road acceptance. The board voted unanimously Thursday to ratify the collective bargaining agreement with the Bolton Police Union, Local 286, Massachusetts Coalition of Police, IUPA, AFL-CIO, covering FY26 through FY28, after a brief executive session. The board also unanimously voted to lay out Moderator Way as a public way, sending formal acceptance to Annual Town Meeting on May 4 at Nashoba Auditorium; the town has owned the road since an October 2025 legal settlement and holds approximately $28,000 in settlement funds to complete outstanding drainage work and catch basin repairs. The board approved modest increases to the transfer station bulky waste fee schedule, including a new $5 charge per soiled mattress, and unanimously appointed Alan Levin to the Public Ways Safety Committee for a three-year term expiring June 30, 2028. Member Brian Boyle announced plans to present a five-slide overview at Town Meeting previewing upcoming decisions on the future of two aging municipal buildings, with a formal citizen task force expected to be established to develop recommendations ahead of the 2027 Annual Town Meeting.
