City Hall Closes July 3 but Trash Collection Runs on Schedule
City Hall will shut its doors Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day — but residents can still roll their bins to the curb, as trash and recycling pickup runs on its normal schedule that day.
TOWN HALL
The city's most time-sensitive bulletin: City Hall will be closed Friday, July 3, for the Independence Day holiday. The Department of Public Works has confirmed there is no delay to curbside trash and recycling collection on that date.
The city also posted a FAQ page for the Flamingo Express, a community program drawing resident questions. The full FAQ is available on the city's website at https://www.leominster-ma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=300.
Two public meetings are on the horizon: the Contributory Retirement Board meets Monday, June 29, and the Zoning Board of Appeals convenes Tuesday, June 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Leominster Public Library is rolling into a packed week of programming. On Monday, June 29, younger visitors can drop in for "Whooo's Ready to Paint?" (10–11 a.m.) and then catch The Yo-Yo Show, billed as the Summer Reading Kick-Off, from 3–4 p.m. Adults and teens can join Chess Club that same evening, 7–8:45 p.m.
Tuesday, June 30 brings two more kids' events: Fairy Houses runs 10 a.m. to noon, and the Save the Bay Touch Tank Experience arrives from 2–4 p.m. — a hands-on marine program that tends to draw crowds. An English Conversation Class for adults also meets Tuesday from 10–11 a.m.
Looking slightly further out, the library hosts "Old Glory, New Glory: The History of the American Flag" on Thursday, July 2, from 6–8 p.m. — a timely lecture heading into the holiday weekend.
