Millbury Dog Owners Face July 1 Deadline to Avoid Late Registration Fee

DATELINE MILLBURY — Town Hall is reminding dog owners that the annual registration deadline is July 1, with a late fee kicking in for any pets not registered before that date.

TOWN HALL

The town's News Flash is urging residents to register their dogs before the July 1 deadline to avoid a late fee. The reminder arrives with the summer season underway and the deadline less than a week away. Residents can complete registration through the town's online portal or in person at Town Hall, located at 127 Elm Street, during regular business hours.

Also on the town's radar: the Central Region of Massachusetts remains at a Significant Drought Level, following a declaration by Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper on May 8, 2026. Conditions have improved somewhat across the state, but residents should remain mindful of water use heading into the summer months.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Summer Reading is underway at the Millbury Public Library, with the program having launched June 22. Kickoff events included a petting zoo on June 23 and a murder mystery on June 24. Readers of all ages — children, teens, and adults — can sign up, read to earn prizes, and register separately for special events throughout the summer. The library also has a featured media literacy resource on its homepage, spotlighting how to identify AI-generated videos and fake news online. The library will be closed Saturday, July 4, for Independence Day.

SCHOOLS

The Millbury Public Schools district newsletter for June 2026 — the Woolie Way — is out, welcoming families to the 2026–2027 school year and wishing the community a good start to summer. Separately, families of rising sixth graders are being reminded that registration for the Nature's Classroom fall trip is now open; forms can be dropped off at Shaw Elementary Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or submitted by email.
