Rutland Cuts Town Hall and Library Hours Starting July 1

The town of Rutland is heading into a period of tightened public-service hours, with both Town Hall and the Rutland Free Public Library set to cut back their schedules beginning July 1 — and the Rutland City Public Schools Board is holding a special meeting tonight.

TOWN HALL

Two announcements posted to the town homepage signal meaningful changes to how residents will access municipal services starting next week. Town Hall and the Town Annex will both shift to reduced hours of operation beginning July 1; the town's website describes the change as a reduction and invites residents to read the full details online at townofrutland.org.

Separately, the town is seeking volunteers to join a newly formed ADA Commission. Residents interested in serving on the commission are encouraged to check the town website for details on how to apply.

Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, the town has posted an official statement regarding this year's Fourth of July festivities, along with a notice about a Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast. Residents planning to attend either event should check the town homepage for specifics before heading out.

The town also posted an announcement regarding changes within the Inspectional Services Department; residents with active permits or pending inspections are encouraged to review that notice directly.

SCHOOLS

The Rutland City Public Schools Board of School Commissioners is holding a Special School Board Meeting tonight, June 23, from 6 to 7 p.m. The district's last student day was June 17, so the meeting takes place during the summer recess period. No agenda details were available in the source materials, but residents can check the district's calendar at rutlandpublicschools.org.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Rutland Free Public Library is preparing residents for a new schedule driven by budget constraints. Starting July 1, hours will shift to: Tuesday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Thursday, noon–8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. That is a reduction from the current Tuesday–Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m. schedule. The library remains closed Sundays and Mondays. Library Director Kerry Remington can be reached at kerry@rutlandlibrary.org, and the library's main number is 508-886-4108.
