Rutland Cuts Town Hall and Library Hours Starting July 1
DATELINE — RUTLAND
With July 1 less than a week away, Rutland residents should take note of two practical changes coming their way: reduced hours at Town Hall and the library, and an official statement on this year's Fourth of July festivities.
TOWN HALL
The town has announced that hours of operation at Town Hall and the Town Annex will be reduced beginning July 1. Residents who rely on in-person services should plan accordingly and check the town website at townofrutland.org for the updated schedule before making a trip.
Separately, the town has posted an official statement regarding this year's Fourth of July festivities. Residents are encouraged to read the announcement directly on the town's News and Announcements page for details on what to expect — or not expect — this Independence Day. A 4th of July Pancake Breakfast has also been announced as part of the holiday programming.
The town is also seeking volunteers for a newly formed ADA Commission. Residents interested in joining are encouraged to reach out through the town's Employment and Volunteer Opportunities page.
Finally, the Inspectional Services Department has changes residents should be aware of; the town advises checking the announcement for details on how permitting and inspection services may be affected.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Rutland Free Public Library is also adjusting its schedule come July 1, due to budget restrictions. New hours will be: Tuesday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Thursday noon–8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.–1 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Patrons who rely on the library's current evening or Friday afternoon hours should make note of the changes. Library Director Kerry Remington can be reached at kerry@rutlandlibrary.org with questions.
