Winchendon Select Board Approves Warrant for May 5 Annual Town Meeting

WINCHENDON — April 21, 2026 — Winchendon Select Board approves town meeting warrant and updates 28-year-old purchasing policy. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to execute the warrant for the annual town meeting set for May 5, 2026, at Oakmont Regional High School, with Planning Board Chair Dennis Marshall's map added to Article 19 and only minor language revisions from town counsel. A friendly amendment on a lot-shape regularity waiver process is expected from the Planning Board chair on the town meeting floor. The board also unanimously rescinded its 1998 buy-recycle policy and adopted a new sustainable purchasing policy required to maintain eligibility for a state grant program that provides the town roughly $5,000 to $6,000 annually toward transfer station costs; the town administrator called the policy "all carrot, there's no hammer." The board set single meetings for July 13 and August 10 and agreed to revisit adding a vice chair position at its May reorganization meeting.
