Beals Library Sets Summer Reading Kickoff as Town Meetings Fill the Week
No news-flash alerts came from Town Hall and no commercial outlets filed fresh Winchendon stories this Flag Day, making this one of the quieter news mornings of the year — but residents who look ahead to the calendar will find a full week of board meetings, a library community conversation, and the start of summer reading arriving within days.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Beals Memorial Library anchors the week with two notable events. On Tuesday, June 16, the library hosts a Community Conversation billed as "Let's Talk About the Library's Bathroom" — a direct invitation for residents to weigh in on what is apparently an ongoing facilities question. Then on Thursday, June 18, the library throws its Summer Reading Club Kick Off Party to launch the season for young readers. Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club also meets June 16, and Wednesday, June 17 brings a Classic Movie Matinee screening the 1957 western 3:10 to Yuma.
Separately, the town's Parks and Recreation department has three community events on the horizon later this month: Bingo at the Hub on June 25, a Free Community Open Mic and Picnic in the Park on June 26, and a Food Truck Festival plus Battle of the Bands on June 27.
