Ashburnham Seeks Board Volunteers as Library Wins $20,000 Food-Literacy Grant
The town called Monday for residents to fill open seats on multiple boards and committees, while Stevens Memorial Library announced a provisional $20,000 federal grant to launch a new food-literacy program for the community.
TOWN HALL
The town published a Notice of Town Board Vacancy on Monday, June 15, listing boards and committees with open seats that will remain available until filled. Residents interested in civic service can review the full list at ashburnham-ma.gov or stop by Town Hall, which is open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Heads up for later this week: Town Hall will be closed Thursday, June 18, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. The town's 2025 Annual Water Quality (Consumer Confidence) Report is also now available for residents to review online. Seasonal water conservation restrictions remain in effect through September 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Stevens Memorial Library has been provisionally awarded a $20,000 Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The grant will fund a program called "At the Table: Food Literacy from the Ground Up," designed to help Ashburnham residents build lifelong food-literacy skills through library programs and resources. Library Director Jess Mynes leads the initiative. Full details are available at ashburnhamlibrary.org.
The library has also released its FY2026–FY29 Strategic Plan, which updates objectives and strategic directions developed through conversations with community stakeholders.
