Winchendon Partners with Discovery Maps to Publish Illustrated Town Guide
The town's Economic Development Task Force announced Monday a new partnership with Discovery Maps to produce a professionally illustrated visitor and community map spotlighting Winchendon's attractions, businesses, services, and destinations — the most concrete economic-development move the task force has publicized this year.
TOWN HALL
The Economic Development Task Force unveiled the Discovery Maps collaboration in a News Flash posted Monday afternoon. Discovery Maps specializes in illustrated guides that serve both visitors and residents, and the finished product is expected to highlight the full range of what Winchendon has to offer — from local businesses to community destinations. No timeline or distribution plan was specified in the announcement, but the full release is available at the town's civic alerts page. (https://www.townofwinchendon.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=155)
Separately, the town's News Flash also notes that the Finance Committee has one open seat and the Economic Development Task Force itself is seeking a new member — two volunteer opportunities for residents looking to shape municipal priorities heading into the second half of 2026.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Beals Memorial Library has a busy stretch ahead, with two events landing Tuesday, June 16. The Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club meets that afternoon, and the library is also hosting a Community Conversation titled "Let's Talk About the Library's Bathroom" — an open forum for residents to weigh in on what appears to be a facilities question. On Wednesday, June 17, the library screens *3:10 to Yuma* for its Classic Movie Matinee series. The big one for families arrives Thursday, June 18: the Summer Reading Club Kick Off Party, which launches what becomes a weekly fixture at Beals through at least late June.
