City Hall Closes Friday for Juneteenth; Schools Post Bus Strike Alert
City Hall will be dark Friday in observance of Juneteenth, and Leominster Public Schools — which also has no school that day — has posted an urgent alert on its homepage warning families of a First Student bus strike.
**TOWN HALL**
City Hall will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. The city noted that there is no delay for curbside trash and recycling collection — pickup runs on its normal schedule. Residents who need to conduct business in person should plan around the one-day closure; regular hours resume Monday.
The city's homepage is also highlighting the FY 2027 Mayor's Budget, now posted for public review at leominster-ma.gov, and a reminder that the Downtown Public Parking Garage is open.
**SCHOOLS**
Leominster Public Schools has no school Friday, June 19, in line with the Juneteenth holiday. Families with children who ride First Student buses should check the district's website directly: the district's homepage carries a prominently flagged notice — "IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE FIRST STUDENT BUS STRIKE" — though full details of any service disruption or contingency plan are posted there. Parents are encouraged to review that notice before Monday morning.
On a lighter note, the district is reminding Leominster residents that the waitlist for tuition-based preschool peer slots at Bennett Preschool for the 2026–2027 school year is now open. Children must turn three on or before Aug. 31, 2026, to be eligible. Interested families can call the Bennett Preschool office at 978-534-7704.
