City Hall to Close July 3; Trash and Recycling Collection Unaffected
City Hall will shut its doors this Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day, though residents can count on uninterrupted curbside trash and recycling pickup that day.
TOWN HALL
The closure covers all City Hall offices on Friday, July 3. Mayor Dean Mazzarella's administration is reminding residents that the holiday schedule does not affect rubbish and recycling collection — curbside pickup will proceed on its normal schedule with no delay.
Also on the town's standing agenda: the FY 2027 Mayor's Budget remains posted for public review on the city website, and the Downtown Public Parking Garage continues to be open to the public following its recent opening. The Monoosnoc Brook Stabilization Project is ongoing, with updates available through the city's website.
Looking ahead to public meetings, the Contributory Retirement Board meets Monday, June 29, and the Zoning Board of Appeals convenes Tuesday, June 30.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Leominster Public Library is rolling into a busy stretch heading into the Fourth of July week. On Monday, June 29, the library hosts two back-to-back programs: a painting event — "Whooo's Ready to Paint?" — open to both kids and teens from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by "The Yo-Yo Show! Summer Reading Kick-Off!" from 3 to 4 p.m., also open to kids and teens. Chess Club for adults meets that same evening from 7 to 8:45 p.m.
Tuesday, June 30 brings a "Save the Bay Touch Tank Experience!" from 2 to 4 p.m. and a Fairy Houses workshop from 10 a.m. to noon, both open to kids and teens. An English Conversation Class runs that morning from 10 to 11 a.m. for adults.
On Thursday, July 2, the library presents "Old Glory, New Glory: The History of the American Flag" from 6 to 8 p.m., a timely adult program just ahead of Independence Day.
Also on the community calendar: the Leominster French Canadian Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 — this weekend — listed on the city's community events calendar.
