Rutland Reduces Town Hall and Library Hours Starting July 1

DATELINE — RUTLAND

Town Hall announcements are driving the local conversation this week, with residents set to see shorter hours at the municipal building and library starting July 1, a new volunteer commission in formation, and Fourth of July festivities on the horizon.

TOWN HALL

Several announcements are posted on the town's official website this cycle, each with practical impact for residents heading into the holiday week.

Beginning July 1, Town Hall and the Town Annex will operate on reduced hours. Residents are encouraged to check the town's website at townofrutland.org for the updated schedule before making an in-person visit.

The town is also seeking volunteers to serve on a newly forming ADA Commission. Residents interested in helping shape accessibility policy for Rutland are invited to apply through the town's employment and volunteer opportunities page.

On the Fourth of July front, the town has released an official statement regarding this year's festivities, and a separate announcement promotes a 4th of July Pancake Breakfast as a way to kick off the holiday morning. Details on both are available on the town's News and Announcements page.

A Bylaw Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30.

The town's Inspectional Services Department is also undergoing changes; a notice posted to the homepage asks residents to be aware of updates within that department, though specifics were not detailed in the posted announcement.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Rutland Free Public Library, at 280 Main Street, is also adjusting its schedule as of July 1 due to budget restrictions. The new hours will be: Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday noon to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — a notable reduction from current hours. Library Director Kerry Remington can be reached at kerry@rutlandlibrary.org with questions.
