Rutland Town Hall and Library to Cut Hours Starting July 1
DATELINE — RUTLAND
Town Hall will operate on reduced hours beginning July 1, and residents can look ahead to a pair of Fourth of July community events, as the town heads into a busy week that includes multiple Zoning Board of Appeals hearings Thursday evening.
TOWN HALL
Starting July 1, both Town Hall and the Town Annex will cut back their hours of operation. The town has posted a formal announcement on its website alerting residents to plan accordingly for any in-person business. A separate notice also flags changes within the Inspectional Services Department; residents with permit or inspection needs are encouraged to check the town website for updated contact and scheduling information.
On the Fourth of July front, the town has issued an official statement regarding this year's festivities, and a separate notice promotes a Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast as a community kickoff to the holiday. Details on both events are posted at the town's News & Announcements page at townofrutland.org.
The town is also actively recruiting volunteers for a newly forming ADA Commission. Residents interested in serving on the commission are encouraged to reach out through the town's website.
Looking to Thursday, June 25, the Zoning Board of Appeals has a full slate: a public hearing at 91 Main Street, a public hearing at 6 Fernwood Drive, and a regular ZBA meeting. The Finance Committee is also scheduled to meet that same evening.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Rutland Free Public Library at 280 Main Street is also adjusting its schedule come July 1, in line with budget constraints. New hours will be: Tuesday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Thursday noon–8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.–1 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.–1 p.m. The library's current Saturday closure through Labor Day (the Memorial Day–Labor Day summer policy) remains in effect. Residents who rely on Friday afternoon or Tuesday evening visits should note the earlier closing times under the new schedule. Library Director Kerry Remington can be reached at kerry@rutlandlibrary.org with questions.
